Participants will be better equipped to:

1. Understand how capital, liquidity, funding, interest-rate risk, regulation and profitability interact across a bank’s balance sheet.
2. Identify the key ALM metrics, risk indicators and balance-sheet red flags that should command Board attention.
3. Ask more effective questions of Treasury, Risk, Finance, ALCO and executive management and challenge underlying assumptions with greater confidence.
4. Assess the trade-offs between profitability, capital, liquidity, funding and risk appetite when reviewing strategic decisions.
5. Evaluate the effectiveness of stress testing, contingency funding and recovery frameworks from a Board oversight perspective.
6. Understand the appropriate division of responsibilities between the Board, ALCO, Treasury, Risk and Finance.
7. Recognise when changing market conditions or emerging balance-sheet risks require escalation or decisive Board action.
8. Strengthen Board understanding of strategic issues including balance-sheet transformation, M&A-related risks and the opportunities and limitations of AI in ALM.
