Nothing new under the sun: Silicon Valley Bank – what went wrong and lessons (re)learned. Presented by Claire Trythall, Visiting Faculty, BTRM

The demise of Silicon Valley Bank, more than a decade after the publication of Basel III regulation guidelines that essentially reiterated basic principles of balance sheet management, shows that risk management fundamentals cannot be taken for granted at any bank, anywhere. Both interest rate risk management and liquidity/funding risk management appears to have been disciplines that were too challenging for the Exec and Board of the bank to follow. In this webinar Claire Trythall walks through the issues raised and the asset-liability management (ALM) lessons (re)learned that all bankers will take away from a sadly all too familar story of bank failure.

“In the webinar, I discuss the collapse of SVB and the key lessons we can learn from their mismanagement of Asset Liability Management (ALM). In this video, I break down the events that led to the downfall of this once-prominent financial institution, and highlight the warning signs that could have helped them avoid their fate.

Whether you’re a financial professional, an investor, or simply interested in the inner workings of the banking industry, this webinar provides valuable insights and actionable takeaways. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn from SVB’s mistakes and avoid similar pitfalls in your own organisation.”
